Meet the Artist: Meagan Canning
So Tell Us A Bit About Yourself
Hello! I’m Meagan! I’m one of the many Element Wars artists. You may know my work from cards like Embrace Your Rage, Imitate, and Grip of Magma. I started painting when I was 2 years old in my cousin’s airbrush workshop, and I never stopped! I like bright colors, interesting characters, and nonexistent backgrounds!
What Are Some of Your Favorite Pieces?
I adore how Embrace Your Rage turned out. I was trying a new process that I wasn’t sure would work out – I usually do pretty heavy linework, and for Embrace Your Rage I didn’t use any. I really enjoyed expanding my art style horizons, and I think it turned out looking pretty good! I actually ended up using that process for some later cards, too, like Iaido.
What Artwork Do You Enjoy Drawing The Most?
I love drawing people! There are so many different expressions, poses, interactions, and designs I can use that my possibilities are endless! Luckily, a lot of my illustrations for Element Wars happen to be very character-based.
Is There Pieces Fans Can Look Forward To In The Future?
I recently finished Spear of Lightning, an electric card. It’s themed to Ancient Greece, which I think is pretty cool!
Any Final Comments?
Element Wars has been such a fun project to be a part of! I love seeing the art and design of the cards come together, and I hope to see a lot more of it!
